Dear Reader: One day during a moment of nostalgia, my sister and I reminisced on out lives as we were as children, growing up in church. As we recalled when it came to church we were faithful members: Sunday school, Sunshine Band, Y.P.W.W., Glee Club, Vacation Bible Schol, revivals, and more-as a family, we were there! As we joyfully reminisced we thought about a prayer we often heard our pastor-a wise one indeed-recite. As children, we all knew it by heart for it was uttered as we stood with right hands upraised, as our benediction prayer. As we thought of the words of this prayer and reminisced on our former church family, down through the years we could see the blessings of the Lord released into the lives of each and every one of the past members, including ouf family. We contributed some of these blessings to this simple three-line prayer our pastor prayed -a pronouncement of blessings on everyone's life. Families were blessed to move out of project locations, buy homes, get better paying jobs, and drive finer cars. Their offspring were blessed-some to finish college-becoming lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc... And some were put in leadership positions and scattered around the country, but all living richer fuller lives; thus, obtaining a better status in society, enabling them to be of help to others as well. Even today we yet have testimonies of blessings. And the sweet thing about it is the blessings of God continue on, from generation to generation; this is what the Lord promised to do for His chosen people. This book is about that special prayer of which the central issue is blessings. It is different from any other prayer in the Bible. Why? Only the priests in the Old Testament uttered this prayer solely for the children of Israel and God Himself put the actual words of blessing in their mouth; however, because of grace, if you are a believer you can pronounce this prayer of blessing for your children, yourself, and whomever else the Lord places upon your heart to pray for. The Bible declares, "But as many as received him (Jesus Christ), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them who believe on his name" (John 1:12, KJV). This statemtnt tells us only those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, thus, entering into His blood covenant relationship, fit these descriptions. The author rouched a core in my heart with the subject matter of the book. Being in the ministry for many years, The Aaronic Blessing is not only one that we have prayed over people time and time again, but one that we have put to song. I was interested in how she would present this material and what she would have to say about it. I was not disappointed.



The first aspect I liked was Ms. Mckenzie beginning her work with words from her heart as she shared experiences from her youth and her family. To me, this brought a warmth to the read and I felt comfortable in settling into it. I have read countless books, written by countless religious teachers that were biblically filled with knowledge, but lacked the personal touch that mankind so needs in these troubled times. The author does a wonderful job through her writing in not talking down to the reader but encouraging them to continue on in anticipation that the knowledge they would obtain would truly be a blessing.



The author breaks down The Aaronic Blessing, teaching on each aspect of it in detail. She ends her work with a short lesson on the Levitical Priesthood, how the prayer originated, and the symbolic message it has for us Christians today. I truly enjoyed how she explained the meaning of the word 'blessing' in Hebrew and I felt her knowledge of the subject matter was exceptional. I truly enjoyed this book and believe it will bless others."
