For those readers who haven’t been to Kaua’I, there aren’t a lot of wild animals there– no lions…no elephants…no wolves…no bears. If you hike in the jungle on Kaua’i, the animals you might find running wild are pigs…or goats…or roosters.
Nick and Teresa’s father continued his story.
The three animals in this story are: a pig named “Pua’a” (which means “pig” in Hawaiian), but that was one too many a’s for most people to say, so they just called her “Pua” (which means “flower”) -- a goat named “Kao” -- and a rooster named “Moa”.
These three friends lived in a beautiful valley between two tall mountains. They had everything they needed…tall trees, colorful flowers, plenty of water and food.
They had mountain apples, wild guava and bananas.
But there was one thing that they did not have. That was…a sheltering place…a place to keep them warm and dry when the storms came.
Princess Geneveive has a wonderful home, with humans who love her. She and her humans try to talk to each other but Genevierve dosn't speak human and her humans don't speak dog. Genevieve often wishes she had another dog to talk to.
