"Some cars have characater. Leapin' Lena,a model-A Ford, had so much character we thought of her in human terms. She could be a moody woman, a stubborn child or a creaky old lady. At times she was a "ball of fire" and at others a "shrinking violet." She ran hot and cold and sometimes not at all. But she was all my uncle had; she was pampered and talked to and encouraged to do her best. For the most part she did."
Autumn 1940. Germany invades Britain. Newport is blitzed. Danny O’Shea’s house is bombed, his wife is killed. While taking his young son Adam to neutral Ireland, they witness an attack on a German convoy. The result is brutal.
