With that, Beryl scurried out of the kitchen, through several small anti-rooms and flung the door open to the Great Hall. As she did, there was a report from a handgun and a bullet wedged in the ornate door frame, only a few inches from her right side. Instinctively, she ducked back, allowed the door close behind her and then raced back to the kitchen, where she ordered terrified staff down into the kitchen cellar, immediately.
At the same time, His Grace, Anoria and Hermione were being ushered out the French doors, at the point of a Glock 30 Subcompact.
“Keep moving or I’ll shoot all of you where you stand.
“No questions, just head as fast as you can for the helicopter.”
Noticing movement, the helicopter pilot, who had been washing the outside of his charge, looked up and instantly realised the three people were being forced at gunpoint towards him. Not wishing to jeopardise anyone’s safety, he froze, with his hand held away from his body, lest the armed person, who he now recognised.
