“Hold it,” Maurice Lapointe desperately yelled as he leant out the window of the orange and green Beck taxi, as it screeched to a stop on busy Davenport Road.
Tossing a twenty-dollar bill through the opening of the divider between the driver and the passenger compartment, he leapt from the right, rear, passenger door and raced across the sidewalk, just as the burly firefighter was about to smash the plate-glass door.
“Please…..I’ve got a key right here,” Maurice loudly pleaded as he reached under the firefighter’s raised arms and frantically shoved a key into the lock.
One twist and he shoved the door open, which allowed an overwhelming, stomach-churning stench to burst forth and envelope him and the firefighters standing behind.
Struggling not to vomit, Lapointe cried out, “What the hell is causing that god-damn smell?”
Immediately, he pinched his nose and rushed into the restaurant screaming, “Roger, where the hell are you…..what are you doing to cause that stink?”
