today
i laid down my heart
gathered all the pieces
to many to put back together
placed them in a box
and put it away
where no one could find it
today
all alone
with love being a distant memory
i realized that what i was looking for
all along was only available from myself
i’m so tired i can’t keep my eyes open
my body and soul hurt so bad
i’m not sure if i’ll be able to get up tomorrow
but today
i let go
of all the fairytale
make believe
forever and ever
bullshyt that comes along with love
i’ve tried so many times to reassemble
the impossible
but time and time again i failed
especially since i had no help
today
i stopped living in yesterday
stopped hoping in tomorrow
i saw what it was
i kicked the what ifs
the maybes
and the explanations to the sideline
because today
none of them matter
it’s not the faith in others
that gives us the strength to give second chances
it’s the faith in ourselves
that when that day comes
when we have to walk away
to save self
we will do just that
i think that day
