Prince Eric finds himself abandoned on an island where the inhabitants are all doves. He soon learns that they were not always doves but have been enchanted and left to their fate on the same island. Prince Eric finds the cure and saves them all from a fate worse than death.
Prince Eric is abducted from his kingdom so his uncle can rule in his place. He is taken to what eveyone believes is a deserted island and left there to starve. He gets help from an unusual place in the form of doves who have suffered a similar fate as Eric.
Prince Eric learns how to save everyone and restore order to all of the island kingdoms.

Many, many years ago there were five islands in the South Pacific Ocean where the weather was almost always beautiful. Four of the islands were set at the four corners of an area shaped like a square. The fifth island was much smaller than any of the others and was in the center of the group so that it was closer to each of the other islands than they were to each other. They were all so many miles apart that the shores of one could not be seen from any of the others. The little island in the middle was thought not to be inhabited because it was surrounded by cliffs and very dangerous reefs with giant rocks showing above the water. Many ships had been wrecked and beat to pieces upon the rocks and then sunk in the waves of the sea around it. The waters around the tiny island were littered with the sunken remains of unfortunate ships and boats. The little island was called the Island of Despair and nobody knew how it happened to get its name. Everyone claimed it to be haunted and they had heard tales of misty ghosts seen floating on its shores and wailing sounds coming from all over the island and they advised everyone to stay away from it or be lost forever.
