The argument taking place in Curt’s office was heated. Deborah actually walked in on his administrative assistant ear hustling at the door. When she brushed past the woman and entered the office, a stillness fell…
Curt broke the silence by introducing the thin, curly haired man as, Attorney Vinson. “The man you see standing before you represents the conglomerate of flesh peddlers that stole Abigail’s innocence! Flesh peddlers that the good lawyer here, refuses to name”
“Mr. Cavanaugh,” said the man in a tsk, tsk, tsk tone- “I do wish you would stop referring to my clients as “flesh peddlers”. They are merely several individuals who thought they were investing in the wellbeing of others. Now, how this, Madame Hoku manipulated their good intentions into something so foul and inhumane, is anybody’s guess, but you cannot possibly hold my clients responsible. I must insist that you stop this witch-hunt or you will be facing a mountain of injunctions!”
“If these people are so innocent then you’ve got nothing to worry about! And someone’s child won’t wake up after being drugged and raped in a foreign country, you greedy pig!”
“No need for name calling, Mr. Cavanaugh. Let’s keep it civil.”
Curt leaned in on his desk, so close he could see his breath move the curls resting on Attorney Vinson’s forehead. “Mr. Vinson, when I go to the supermarket and purchase a frozen chicken dinner, when I open it, I expect to see “chicken”; not beef or pork or shrimp… I expect chicken!”
“Your point being, Mr. Cavanaugh?”
“My point, Mr. Vinson is that your clients invested in an orphanage that is supposed to care for orphaned Italian children! Instead, this place is filled with terrified, abducted foreigners, who are being horribly abused and prostituted by a monstrous woman who calls herself, Madame Hoku! Now what I’m saying to you, Mr. Vinson, is that either your clients are dumb motherfuckers who don’t care if they get what they pay for, or, they are getting exactly what they are paying for! And if that’s the case, it’s their turn to be terrified and fucked! Now if you wanna file injunctions, call the U.S. Attorney’s office and see if they’re interested in your bullshit! Cause as far as I’m concerned, you’re just another pretty whore, gettin’ pimped!”
Mr. Vinson removed his glasses and proceeds to clean them with his handkerchief. His demeanor being one of a silent, skilled hunter calibrating his rifle, and setting eyes on his prey. “Good day, Mr. Cavanaugh. I will see you soon.”
