How did life begin earth? Trey Calder wonders...
A man and his fourteen year old son are camping in the high desert south of the Grand Canyon in September. The boy falls off a low cliff and punctures a lung. He’s lying near death when a young Havasupai man finds him and cures him with a secret potion. A decade later, the father is dead and the young man named Trey Lionel Calder attempts to find the man and the tribe that saved him. He has graduated from ASU with a degree in journalism and is a reporter for the Arizona Chronicle.
Using articles and stories hes has collected, he journeys to Supai village. There, Trey and Bright Cloud, a young tribeswoman, explore the wonders of the secret their secluded cave, hidden behind a waterfall. Within, lies a pool of gaseous liquid. It is this substance that gives life to the unliving. As he and the young woman explore the potential of this ancient pool, a satan-based cult called the “Avengers of Asmodeus” are hiding out in the area. They are the remnents of a group of Christian missionaries that were sent out into Northern Arizona to convert the tribes. Madness has seized their souls and they are plotting to blow up portions of the Grand Canyon as the first step in a reign of terror to reek revenge upon God’s handiwork. They have been stockpiling bombs and are led by a man known as “Dred.”
Trey then returns to the paper to do further research on the origins of life. Then he learns about the cult and ventures into their compound to confront Dred. Barely escaping with his life, he has learned about their plot and heads for the tribe. With only days before the event, he hatches a plan to stop them.
Using the liquid, he will try to have earth rise up against them. He tries spraying the rocks but the idea fails as they only shake and shudder for a moment. Now Dred and his army march toward the canyon’s edge. Just before arming the bombs, the gaseous-liquid erupts from the cave and speeds toward the group, literally freezing them in their tracks. All weapons dissolve and Dred slips off a cliff. With Trey in the lead, the Indians reach him at the bottom and use the elixir to bring him back to life. Dred disbands the group seeing God’s awesome power which is obviously stronger than Satan’s. The Indians return home where they find the cave has collapsed and the source of their elixir is gone forever.
Five years later, Trey is married to Nimbus and works for CNN. While there, he receives a mysterious message about strange lights in South Africa. While investigating the lights just outside of Kruger National Park, he travels to Barberton Mountain and discovers a strange pool that glows and becomes the eventual guardian of the true secret of life.
