This book offers an original naturalistic theory of the nature and use of meaningful coincidences (synchronicities).
DEMYSTIFYING MEANINGFUL COINCIDENCES (SYNCHRONICITIES): The Evolving Self, The Personal Unconscious, and The Creative Process is the outgrowth of Gibbs A. Williams' forty- year investigation, both as a professional observer of some of his synchronistically prone patients receiving psychoanalytic psychotherapy as well as of his won intimate experience of these intellectually challenging and emotionally powerful occurrences. Challenging the Jungian position that these events are channeled messages from a realm of transcendent "absolute meaning" Williams argues that they can be explained from a non mystical/magical purely naturalistic perspective. He concludes that meaningful coincidences are the surface manifestations of an individual's unique creative process, accommodating the "best" available resolution of a problem for a person initially "stuck" in a seemingly intractable dilemma.
It is important for the potential reader to note that he or she does not need to be a psychoanalytic patient to derive personal benefit from reading this book. They are likely to find it to be a highly sophisticated "how to" primer promoting empowerment in the areas of being and doing.
