She checked the rear view mirror and gave a slight start when she thought she saw somebody moving behind the car. With her eyes fixed firmly on the mirror she reached down with her right hand and fumbled for the switch that would activate the central locking. Her finger had just closed on the switch when the rear passenger door was yanked open from the outside and a dark clad figure leaped in the back, slamming the door behind him.
Rebecca was too stunned to even scream when her hair was pulled back and she felt the cold steel of a knife blade as it was pressed against her neck.
Her attacker's face was mere inches from her head, his heavily alcohol tainted breath and the odour of his body invading her nostrils.
The traffic lights changed to green and Rebecca was unable to move.
'Please...don't hurt me,' she whispered. 'There's money in my handbag, you can have it. Take it all...but please, don't hurt me.'
For a second or two, nothing happened. Then the man released his grip on her hair slightly, and pushed her head forward. He leaned closer.
'Drive!' He hissed.
