"Where is God?" he screamed, as he cradled her lifeless body in his arms. "Where is God?" It was the same plead he had shouted decades before on the battlefields of Vietnam, when he held the dead or mutilated bodies of brother Marines.
"Where is God?" he tearfully muttered in agony, not expecting an answer. Clutching Jessica firmly against his chest, he suddenly heard a voice behind him. A stranger hoping to comfort Jacob said, "She is with God." Jacob did not respond, as he continued to stare at his beloved daughter.
Within moments, however, Jacob screamed uncharacteristically. “How the hell do you know she is with God? Why did God take her in the first place? She should be with me!"
The stranger ignored Jacob's response, bent down and wrapped his arms around both of them, and began to cry. He held them in silence until the ambulance arrived.
