Jennifer lay supine on her sofa reading the column of ads in the Talking Friends section of her local paper.
“Business Man 55 y.o. seeks casual relationship with lady 18-25 yrs.” As if…
“Love to Love. Wanted - freedom loving easy living, laid back lady by laid back, lion-hearted, libido looking lover. Love to Love.” A bit too much love of alliteration, lion-hearted lover!
“Part Time Lover wanted for discreet monthly rendezvous by healthy, well-educated, widely travelled, emotionally and financially secure, internationally-minded 40 y.o. man.” Hmm - could she? Nah.
“George Clooney Look Alike.” That one sounded more promising. Jen sat up properly from her recumbent position and read on. “If you believe that, you’ll believe anything, so I would like to hear from you. I’m a 38 y.o. Aussie, N/S, S/D, DTE, GSOH, give me a call.”
Jen glanced over at the phone for a moment then hurled the paper onto the floor. Jumping to her feet she paced up and down as she stared at the rain sliding down the window in a never-ending sheet. It was too wet to even go to the movies or indulge in some retail therapy – any distraction that might take her mind off the male-free zone her life had become. She clenched her fists tight and began running on the spot as fast as she could then scooped a cushion up off the sofa and shoved her face into it just before screaming at the top of her lungs. Aaaargh... It wouldn’t do to give the ancient fuddy-duddy residents of her apartment building a heart-attack.
