Enrique Reyes was named after his grandfather, and together they visited his hometown in Mexico, where Enrique is now happy being the doctor. The only thing he is missing is a wife. When Tanora Doyle, a bi-racial research biologist arrives in town, he is intrigued. But will the baggage she carries keep them apart? Or can Enrique cure whatever ails her, and solve his problem as well?

Enrique, the oldest of the Reyes sons, was named after his father’s father, creating a special bond between them. While in medical school, Enrique accompanied Abuelo back to his hometown in Mexico. Now Enrique is the doctor there, enjoying his practice and his adopted town. The only thing he is missing is a wife. Enrique wants an equal: a strong, independent woman whom he can woo into sharing her life with him. When Tanora Doyle, a bi-racial research biologist arrives in town, he is intrigued. But will the baggage she carries keep them apart? Or can Enrique cure whatever ails her, and solve his problem as well?

Excerpt

She got up and moved around to his side of the desk, then balanced her butt against the desk, and watched as he looked up at her. The height of the chair was just right, so that when she was standing, she was a few inches taller than him--about the same difference that there was between them when they were both standing, and he was the taller one. But with him sitting there, Tanora felt as if she had the power.
Enrique acknowledged as much when he spoke hoarsely, his voice filled with deep emotion. “You don’t have to do anything, Tanora. But I promise to keep my hands to myself. Even though I want to touch you, more than anything else in the world right now. I won’t. You are in control. Do what you want.”
She gave him a small smile as she thought of what it was that she wanted to do. Long-dead feelings seemed to be waking up, but she wasn’t going to rush anything. And he wanted her to take her time. So she did.
She leaned over slowly, and used both of her hands to softly caress the sides of his face, enjoying the feel of the tiny beard hairs that had already made their way to his skin, despite it only being early afternoon. While she kept one hand still, she used the other to brush the curly black hair off of his face, and ran her fingers back onto his scalp, enjoying the warmth emanating from his head. The hand that was still on the side of his face, slowly moved down, and she used her thumb to trace the lines of his lips, enjoying the soft, sensuous feel of them. She lowered her head, and her lips gently brushed against his--once--twice--on the third touch, she leaned into it, and concentrated all of her being into her lips, as if they were the only body parts that she had. She didn’t open her mouth. She kept up the gentle pressure of her lips on his. She opened her eyes, and smiled at the transfixed look on his face.
He opened his eyes as well. She gently rubbed her nose against his, back and forth, and they breathed onto each others’ faces, while gazing deeply into each others’ eyes.
She brushed her lips against his again, and applied more force. She leaned forward and opened her mouth slightly, to run her tongue around his mouth, tasting his lips, tracing their lines, enjoying the feel of the prickly hairs that let her know she was kissing a man. Her tongue made lazy circles around his mouth before she delicately poked it against his lips, mutely urging him to open his mouth--which he did. She reached her tongue into his mouth, and began to brush against his tongue. Their lips were still pressing together, harder now, and she inadvertently moaned, leaning closer to him. She still had one hand in his hair, holding his head at the perfect angle for her to kiss him, without either of them straining their necks.
The other hand slowly moved down to his shoulder, then down to his upper arm, which she squeezed gently as another moan escaped her lips. She leaned in closer again, and her hand slipped around behind his back, to massage his neck and shoulder blades. She was concentrating all of her being in the parts of her that were touching him, but other parts of her body were on fire!
Her nipples were so hardened that they almost hurt with the intensity of their puckering. She could feel the warmth in her belly that spread from there down to her upper thighs. Her tiny bud of pleasure had pushed itself out from under its hood, and each movement she made caused it to rub against the seam of her jeans, which were getting moistened by the slick fluids leaking out from her hot core. She felt like she was coming alive again, after a long winter of voluntary celibacy.
She opened her eyes as her tongue returned to its own home, and her lips brushed lightly against his, as she sighed heavily. She leaned her forehead on his, and spoke in a whisper. “I’m not ready for anything else yet. I didn’t think I was even ready for this much.”
* * * *

Enrique’s arms were trembling from the enormous control he was exerting over his own muscles to hold them still. His hands had a death-grip on the arms of the office chair he was sitting on, and his thigh muscles were twitching reflexively. He had never been so hard in his life--or as determined to reign himself in, to keep his promise to the woman who could move him more with a gentle kiss, than anything he had ever felt before. He took a deep breath, before he answered her, in a voice syrupy with need and desire.
“Take as much time as you need. I will wait.”
She gave him a wondering look. “Really?”
He nodded looking deeply into her eyes--the gold color was now a circle around her enlarged pupils, swirling in time with her panting. “I have a feeling that you are really, really worth waiting for. So--yes.”

Professional Reviews

Great story, Fiona!
I LOVE Tanora being a true, strong heroine able to overcome the attack with Rick's help & also being a field botanist. COOL!
The scene with Catalina and Miguel is at the airport in Chicago (Chicago/O'Hare?)
where Rick is meeting Tanora's family for the first time.
I'd like to read Miguel's story, He just seems like an interesting character.

What a great story!
. Fiona McGier proves that love can transcend no matter what a person’s background or status is. Even if someone has faced an unpleasant event in his or her life, true love will always be the best remedy. The author expresses this in her writing.

CoffeeBeansandLoveScenes gave this 4 cups!
At thirty years old, Enrique Reyes is living in Mexico, miles away from his friends and family. He is the general practitioner for the town where his grandfather grew up. After visiting the area with his grandfather several years ago, Enrique decided to practice in the quiet quaint town. While he enjoys the people and the town, he is unhappy with the selection of woman. He wants an equal in his marriage. He wants a woman that is strong, intelligent, engaging and independent, one who will challenge him, a partner. Enrique may have just found his perfect match.

Tanora Doyle is a botanical research biologist in the area looking for new plants to study for viable medicines. Before even stepping foot in the town, she falls face first out of the bus and breaks her wrist. What a way to start a research project. Tanora has always been a single minded motivated person and this set back is not going to be taken lightly. Nor will she be derailed by a handsome doctor who is basically blackmailing her into going out with him. She does find him attractive, but she has a job to do and doesn’t have time for a man.

While Enrique’s attraction is instantaneous, Tanora’s took a bit longer. She is fascinated with him, but was apprehensive and rightfully so. Her past traumas will always haunt her and will be very difficult to get past. With Enrique’s kindness and love, she is able to persevere and heal. His love and affection for her jumped off the pages. I enjoyed his seduction of Tanora. Enrique is a dream come true.

I enjoyed the different location and atmosphere of Prescription for Love. It was refreshing to get out of Chicago. While I’m not completely sure, it seems this story has a small link to other books by Fiona McGier involving an “agency”. For a free book, this story was appealing and satisfying. Don’t bypass this story to get to the next book. Enrique and Tanora’s novella shouldn’t be missed and is a welcome addition to the series.
