His tour of duty in Vietnam seemed to have been only yesterday as his mind raced back and forth in turmoil of flashbacks and the thoughts of every event haunted him for so many years. Andy was a Christian and would from time to time witness about Jesus. But Bates wouldn't have anything to do with it. At least not in the middle of chaos and death. Seems to be the time when he should have turned to God, but instead, he turned to the bottle. Still, Bates had a special respect for Andy and the things that he read from the scriptures made a lot of sense. Andy was full of life and had a purpose. But Sam found out what it meant to sacrifice everything.
