I Love the Lord
I’m a young lady who has made a choice to serve the Lord.
He told me that he loved me. His voice I heard, his words I read and understood.
His commandments I have chosen to obey, and I have promised never to stray.
There is great reward for all who choose to live righteous and good.
He helps me out daily, and my husband has come to know him too.
Now our marriage is truly wonderful because we seek the Lord in order to know what’s best to do.
I’ll teach my child to love the Lord.
This will be our first one.
He’ll be with me through every moment, any pain, and all the tears.
I’m trusting in Jesus so that childbirth I do not fear.
The birth process will be a blessed experience because I’ll be covered with wonderful prayers.
Once the baby is born, it will be raised in a godly atmosphere.
You can’t beat God’s giving. No matter how you try.

About the Author
Thelma Cunningham was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools where she graduated from Mary E. Rodmand Elementary and Gwynn Falls Park Junior High School. She graduated from Edmondson Senior High School in the year of 1977 and went to the Community College of Baltimore later in life and graduated from there in 1992 with an A.A. Degree. She received various scholarships from Community College of Baltimore. She completed her B.S. Degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education in 1998 at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She belonged to various Honor Societies while attending Coppin State.
Cunningham is currently a member of the Maryland Writer’s Association and is affiliated with online organizations such as Wild Poetry Forum and Writing World. The author has written one poetry book consisting of her poems written since childhood and seven children fairytale short stories with two sequel short stories soon to follow so far. She is currently taking courses in Sewing and Dress Making with Stratford Career Institute.
