It is all happening so fast it feels slow, runny as the midday heat in the alley, and for a fact Knot can see the sun beaming down from the top of the world. A block of sky like bought ice in the shimmer stage of melting. Shimmery too, at the other end of the alley, is a giant with a warped boogerman face. He is hugigng a brown paper sack and running Knot's way, coming to rob him maybe of his play-cousin Lee's bicycle.
