So much adventure and action that it would make an excellent movie! The well-known Defender, Donavan St. Auburn, is bestowed the land and castle of Shadowood by King Rufus. When he arrives with his men, the Black Guard, to their dismay, they are met by traps and preparations for unwanted visitors. This is when it all started, the spirited Keelin Defratey was secretly living in the castle and commanding it, with a few other inhabitants. Later, The Defender joins forces with lady Keelin so that they can try to keep Shadowood. The trials and tribulations of their relationship keep you on the edge of your seat. Will they succeed in keeping Shadowood? Where will their relationship end up??.....This is a fantastic book and Veronica is a very talented writer.

I absolutely fell in love with this book. The family is so loving and funny! Veronica Stone is such a fantastic writer, I felt like I was in the story. I couldn't put it down. Also the diversity of characters, especially the boys, allows something for everyone! My sisters and I have all read this romantic tale and everyone of us has our "man"! I recomend you read it with your friends and find out who your favorites are! It may surprise you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the antics of the family and their individual stories were woven artfully together to form a complex story of romance and adventure. My favorite character was Jessica. She made me laugh, smile and cry with all her situations. This book was worth reading and I was sorry to see it end. I can't wait for VS's next book and hope her other books contain such a neat and unique story line.
