When the evening birds began to sing a tune they only sang when dusk set in, Zig knew that he must go back and retire. Along the beautiful grove of trees along Echo Creek, he would trace the shores of the creek that meandered between two hills seemingly quite recognizable, because the growth of buildings had almost won in its competition with the grove. Along the small pathway, leaving behind the hobos, towards Broadway on Thirteenth his miserable and melancholic soul took on more life and more heart. Simple things did indeed entice the soul to revel...especially when the material world had deprived him of some of the most basic necessities many people took for granted. When he arrived home, just past that beautiful building where rich people lived, he would glance back one more time, inhaling the cool evening air, then retiring to his four walls until the next day, until next time.
