WRDF Review of The Commander's Desire by Jennette Green
The Commander’s Desire is a historical novel that reaches you deep down to your soul.

I love a good historical novel and Jennette Green has written not only a romance and a novel but a book to be proud of in any circle of literary significance. This isn’t a humorous tale filled with non-stop exciting adventure. No, instead this an emotional journey for both hero and heroine. A dramtic telling that affected me in a way I won’t soon forget.

I love great characters and I was not disappointed in this book. Elwytha felt so real to me. At first, I almost didn’t like her. She was so biased against the commander and at times seemed far too angry at him. But she had every reason to maintain those feelings and I enjoyed watching the transition in her as she came to understand the truth. The Commander is one of those wonderful historic heroes. Definitely an alpha male of the quiet brooding variety. Yet he is intelligent and can smile and laugh at a joke but when action must be taken he is there.

Simply stated, I loved this book. No matter what genre you read or what heat level you enjoy, you will be enthralled with The Commander’s Desire. You will feel their emotions, understand their sorrows and celebrate their victories. It definitely stays on my shelf.

Romance Reader at Heart review of The Commander's Desire
Elwytha’s favorite brother is dead, and her only remaining sibling is sending her into the lion’s den. She is a warrior out for vengeance, but will she do anything to get it.
The Commander has spent his life serving his Prince. He never expected to be handed the gift of the enemy princess for his wife.
Ms. Green’s portrayal of the Commander was refreshing. He was kind and caring without being wimpy, and it takes a talented author to bring that out in a character without losing the effect of being a strong alpha warrior while keeping the reader's interest at the same time. And not to leave out Elwytha—she’s a warrior princess. She gets out there and fights with the men.
The question is, can she leave behind the hatred and actually go through with this wedding? Can she and the Commander learn to trust one another? Or will she do as her brother wishes and betray her own budding feelings. You’ll have to read it to find out.
I would say THE COMMANDER'S DESIRE is definitely a keeper—you won't want to stop reading until you get to the end. And even then, the story is still exciting.

The Commander's Desire
In medieval England, Princess Elwytha is mourning the murder of her brother, the King, when her other brother offers her a way for revenge. She is to marry the enemy king and kill his army’s commander, the monster who assassinated her brother. When she is instead betrothed to the commander, she will eventually question her loyalties and her heart.
The commander knows the lovely princess is planning something, but hopes that he can convince Elwytha that he is innocent of murder. When his emotions come full circle, he can not decide if he is able to trust the woman he has come to love.
Most royal marriages are politically based, but does one based on revenge have a chance of happiness? Murder and intrigue may always keep the commander and Elwytha apart and at war.
An exciting and interesting historical, this book kept my attention and is one that I enjoyed reading. The murder and mayhem are very well written and are excellent “page-turner” aspects of the book. The Commander's Desire is a sensual novel as opposed to erotic, but the building love and care that Elwytha has for her commander is palpable. This is one of my favorite parts of the book. It was, however, Elwytha’s sense of self that made the book most interesting to me. The royal machinations and subplots are great, but it is Elwytha’s strength that makes her empathetic to readers. The background and supporting characters are interesting, and I plan to read more from Ms Green. While I love good “trashy romances”, The Commander's Desire, a more gentle romance, is one of my keepers.
