Excerpt
Mundoo Asquith was a 20-foot-tall Algonquin god who had battled the likes of Zeus atop Olympus Mons. It took a great deal to frighten Mundoo Asquith, because he put the "bad" in "bad ass." Despite that, as Mundoo, Antiquity and Gillian Calais, their children Mary and Gabriel Calais, and their friend Sherman Yazu were speaking with a scruffy old man who had been disfigured since he was 10 years old, Mundoo was greatly disturbed when he heard the old man say that a woman with the name "Theona" had caused his disfigurement. While it is possible there was more than one woman so-named, in all his years of service to the Creator, he could think of just one soul capable of inflicting such misery.
“Excuse me sir, but did you say Theona did this to you?” Mundoo asked.
“Aye! That's a name I shall never forget, for as long as I live and breathe,” he declared.
“And you said she cursed you, to cause this disfigurement?”
“Aye! Why are you asking so many questions about this wretched woman?”
“I believe I have crossed paths with her before. But unless I am quite mistaken, she should not be free to roam the earth, spreading her errors. She must have made a deal with Satan to gain her freedom from hell.”
“Any woman with the power to do this to a man must be in league with the devil, I should say!” The old man said.
“Sir, thank you so much. Folks? I think it is time that we had the best coffee in five universes,” Mundoo declared, which everyone understood to mean that they were heading for Mad Dog's Coffee Shack.
As the group prepared to depart, Mary Theresa lingered behind. “Mom, dad, I can help this man,” she said.
“If you think so, by all means,” Gillian said.
Mary turned to the old man and said, “Would you like for me to heal your wounds?”
“Aye, or rather, I would like for you to try. Tis a powerful curse that wretched witch cast on me. Many have tried to reverse it, but none has succeeded.”
“I shall try then,” Mary said, reaching out to place her hands over his face. She closed her eyes and envisioned the Creator's Universal Life Force flowing from Seventh Heaven, through every level of Heaven, before entering the physical realm, where they presently resided. Her body began to glow, as the Life Force flowed through her, and he grimaced slightly when the energy reached her hands, firmly placed over his face.
“If you have not done so, close your eyes, sir,” Mary advised. “The intensity of this healing could render you blind if you keep them open.”
“It is done. What are you doing to me?”
“Healing you, with the Creator's Life Force.”
Mary kept her eyes closed and envisioned all the warped flesh becoming clear and infinitely more human. Once she felt she had conducted a sufficient degree of the Universal Life Force, she opened her eyes and removed her hands from his face. Not only was the disfigurement reversed, but also he actually looked many years younger than his chronological age. He opened his eyes, and though he could not yet see his face, he knew the procedure had worked, and he bolted to a nearby parked car and looked in the driver's side rear view mirror.
After staring at his face for a few seconds, the man leaped into the air and did an Irish jig, all the while hooting and hollering incoherently. Once he settled down a bit, he ran back to Mary and said, “How may I repay this great kindness you have given me?”
“By filling you with the Creator's Universal Life Force, I have given you the power to heal which the Creator saw fit to give me. When you see others who are in pain, use this gift to heal them, as I have healed you.”
“I will! Oh Lord, I will! Might I ask, who are you?”
“I am but a servant of the Creator. Nothing more or less.”
