Margaret Lerner, a longtime divorcee, lives a bland, uneventful life.  She works as a secretary for her less than sane psychiatrist boss, Dr. Scottie Leonard.  Maggie, on the verge of obsessive-compulsive breakdown herself, appears comfortable with her sheltered life and her never-ending need to count almost everything she comes in contact with.  One day, out of the blue, the frumpy middle-aged woman receives an email stating that it's time for her to take her journey.  The email is signed by none other than - Chickahominy Grits, a real honest to goodness Native American Indian who tells Maggie to "Pay Attention to the Signs."  As she begins to discover more and  more about the nature of her journey, learn how Maggie's safe little world becomes completely turned upside down.

Concurrently, as Maggie's journey begins to unfold, another story unravels, the tale of two murdered policemen found dead in a church basement, murders that occurred over forty years ago.  And these two low life cops just so happened to have been murdered in the same church where Maggie's father worked.  As clues to the murders begin to emerge, Maggie's father becomes the prime suspect.  Learn how the never-ending love of a selfless father is tested, resulting in an amazing outcome of both loyalty and unexpected betrayal.  As these two events collide, Maggie's mysterious journey and her father's involvement with the murders, her discoveries lead her to believe that nothing in her protected little world was or is, as it seems.  And ultimately her view of both her past and present become altered forever.
