The Long Walk
The cold damp fog
Invades the dew drenched fields
Then rolls onto my doorstep.
Its cool grey mist enshrouds the view
And hides reality under her haze.
I walk inside her eyes.
It's like walking in an alien marshland
Where signposts make no sense
And heavens can't be found.
The wet bushes are icy fingers
Touching hair raised skin.
It's an almost blindness
That charts courses of confusion
Surrounded by four grey walls
But stuck in the center.
With leaden feat I walk
In constant chaotic circles
Trying desperately to touch something
Other than this
Dense drapery of fog.
