Racing across the causeway at over 100 miles per hour, making the right turn onto Collins Avenue was almost impossible. But somehow he did it without wrecking his vehicle.
The chase started in downtown Miami when two bullets from his pursuers had narrowly missed his head – shattering the windshield and destroying the rearview mirror. But the shooting didn’t stop there. Several more bullets exploded the rear window before lodging somewhere in the back of his seat. Then two more struck his dashboard and steering wheel. The bullets from his pursuers were taking his car apart piece by piece.
Fortunately Collins Avenue wasn’t crowded with traffic – it usually wasn’t at this hour…almost 3 AM on a damp and muggy Sunday night.
Dodging the minimal traffic and running all the red lights at speeds approaching 75 miles per hour in a car that was becoming impossible to handle, he somehow managed to distance himself from the guys shooting at him. But he was quickly running out of room to run. Collins Avenue would end at the beach, with only a narrow path remaining before finding the white sand of the Atlantic Ocean.
Crashing through a small barricade, his bullet riddled 1951 Ford found the soft sand of South Miami Beach and immediately came to a stop. The chase was over and his pursuers were right behind - intending to remove him from the planet.
Without a weapon, fleeing on foot or swimming was now his only options – he chose not to swim.

A small article in the morning Miami Herald reported a damaged vehicle found abandoned on South Miami Beach. In addition to crash damage, the vehicle contained numerous bullet holes and small traces of blood. The vehicle was licensed in Tennessee and registered to Mr. Anthony Lamont – address not provided. Authorities were actively searching for Mr. Lamont.

The authorities actively searching for Mr. Anthony Lamont was really no big deal. They had already been searching for him, along with most everybody else!
