Descendants of Charles Worthington Goldsborough and Ruth Arilla Redfearn

This work traces the lines of descent from Charles Goldsborough and Ruth Redfearn. Theirs was a love story that took them West when Charles' aristocratic Maryland family disapproved of his English bride, the daughter of a lead miner.

Descendants represent a wide cross-section of American life. They were farmers, miners, prospectors and homemakers, as well as company presidents, military officers and famous aviators.

The book represents over four years of intense, documented research. It contains more than 200 photographs and illustrations. Plus there is a photo quiz!

All lines of descent have been followed, not just the Goldsborough name. Other family surnames include Alderson, Barager, Boss, Currer, Hill, Laity, Merrill, Premo, Sowby, Squires, Van Every, Vivers, White and many more.

"Fran moved with Check to Florida and told many funny tales about fighting the huge cockroaches that invaded their apartment. In 1943, Check was transferred to the CBI (China, Burma, India command) and was stationed in India for 18 months. Fran tried to sign up with the American Red Cross to go to Dehli, India, but was turned down when it was discovered she was pregnant. The couple was astounded because they had been married ten years and this was Fran's first pregnancy. So while Check went overseas, Fran returned to Sioux City to live in a household of women, like many other families during WWII."
