Great Book
It takes one hell of a lot of imagination to come up with a plot like this! If you heard in a couple of sentences what this story is about you may think it was madness but it is a fabulous read!
Time travelling pensioners and their dog collide with Roman history in Britain at the time of Boadicea. Instead of a Tardis they have a time travelling mobility scooter! When they arrive back in ancient Britain they are 18 years of age and caught up in an adventure with a great array of characters.
As I love any story about Roman Britain especially books by Simon Scarrow, I was worried I might find fault in the historical elements but the author has done a great job of weaving a story around real characters and events from the past and even given us some romance.
There is some humor, but this book is also a page turning adventure and I loved the ending!

What the fun is all about
Ann Massy turned what could have been a boring history book into a fun read with some education thrown in for good measure.
I truly LOVED Sparky . He reminded me of our Yorkie who always seems to be sending me mental messages that I usually misinterpret.
Ennis and Reggie are very real characters who are moving in the last quarters of their lives and not communicating very well. They get a second chance at happiness.
Going back and forward in time is something I have often wondered about and this story gave me a taste of what it might be like.
I like the author's style of writing. This is the second of her books and entirely different than the first. I would highly recommend either to anyone.

Extraordinary and delightful feat of imaginative writing
It isn't often that I actually chuckle, laugh, or otherwise make sounds of delight when I read a book. The Little Dog Laughed is a rare exception, as some passengers on last week's flight JQ516 from Melbourne to Sydney might attest. I was dazzled by Ann Massey's repertoire of wit, irony and outright comedy in this time travel story of Reggie and Ennis, and their intrepid dog Sparky. The author combines a wealth of knowledge about love, dog psychology, Latin, and Roman history in a stylistically deft novel that defies genre categorisation. Congratulations and thanks for the pleasure!
