When she finally had enough of his abuse and cheating ways, the only way for her to leave him was dead or to excape.
So she packed all she could carry and went across the country figuring it was far enough to where he couldn't find her.
Unfortunately, Shana's new found freedom had her going man crazy and she found her self in more than one man's bed in a short amount of time. Giving each of them little to no information about her past, each other or her potentially violent husband, with no remorse.
As Aamir contiunes to call and harrass Shana claiming he is honing in on her location, she still refuses to change her number and opts to just ignore his calls.But will her new found freedom and attitude of, i dont have to explain myself, get her in a whole new sitiutation with these new men she's found herself entangled with and what will happend when Aamir finally catches up with her?

Though it took me a while to read, due to my hectic schedule i was able to follow the book pretty easily. There were minor gramatical errors that made me have to re=read some lines over but nothing that took away from the flow of the book.

I had never heard about this author, T.Nicole until I set up my facebook account. I logged onto Amazon.com to read what My Own Terms was about and decided to purchase the book. I must admit, I definitely wasn't disappointed. Characters in books are important to me and I could relate to Shana in some ways. Shana knew on her own wedding day that Aamir wasn't the man for her. You know how you hear that little voice but decide to ignore it? That is exactly what Shana did and continued to do throughout this book. Shana didn't take into consideration her own feelings. She focused on Aamir's feelings and what he would do if she didn't marry him. Shana finally left Philadelphia and flew to San Diego where her BF (best friend), Africa resided. I do not feel that San Diego was the place for Shana to go to because Aamir would figure out exactly where she was. I do wish that Shana would have planned her escape from Aamir better than what she did. Now Aamir starts leaving Shana threathening voicemails on her cell phone. While Shana is residing in San Diego, she's really enjoying her freedom but all the wrong ways. Even while Shana's in San Diego, she still ignores the voice that she hears. Shana begins a game of Russian Roulette with her very own life. Shana begins partying and sleeping with men without condoms. Shana didn't just want one man, she wanted men. Shana gets involved with two guys, DeShawn and Aiden. Neither guys mind sharing Shana if you know what I mean. Shana tells DeShawn some things about Aamir, but doesn't tell Aiden. When Aiden finds out that Shana has a husband, he's had enough and bounces. DeShawn decides to stay and be there for Shana. I'm curious as to how this story is going to play out in, "My Own Terms II." I'm definitely a fan of T.Nicole. This writer knows how to write a story which will have you hooked from beginning until the end. My Own Terms is definitely a book that you will want to purchase. You won't be disappointed, I wasn't.

Shana - fed up and finally ready to leave her abusive husband Aamir, flew home to San Diego. A place she hadn't been since a teenager. Shana thought Aamir would get the message and leave her alone. Wanting to start a new life, Shana returned to familiar people; her best friend Africa and Africa's older cousin, DeShawn,who Shana had a childhood crush on. Returning home gave her a sense of security being thousands of miles away from Aamir and a sense of freedom to do what she wanted and with whom. Upon seeing Africa, Shana was happy that her best friend came to her rescue. After pulling up into DeShawn's driveway, Shana began to wonder what happened to the dude who always had chicks falling by the side. She was impressed with what she saw, but knew too much of his past and knew he was a player and heart breaker. To Shana's surprise; DeShawn had changed his playboy ways and was ready to make her his woman, now that she had grown up. Shana was living in the now and was down for whatever, but was she ready to be in another monogamous relationship? Shana had mad love for Shawn, but did she want the same from him? Was she really free from Aamir,or would he stop at nothing to get her back?

Africa was glad to see her best childhood friend and didn't mind opening her home to Shana, but didn't care too much for her best friend and cousin getting together. Africa,loved to be center of attention; had a jealous streak in her-but as long as she was being fed drama and gossip, she was appeased temporarily. Africa knew that her girl was getting in deeper than she should, but she loved Shana and couldn't stay mad at her for too long. Is Shana being a good friend? Will she regret bringing Africa into her home?

DeShawn, was a grown ... man and had done well for himself. At first glance, he knew that time spent apart had not changed his feelings towards her, and he was ready to see her to see what was up after seven years. She wasn't a baby anymore and no one can tell him that he is too old for her. DeShawn was ready to make Shana his. Babies and babies mama drama seemed to follow DeShawn, but one thing was true- he had a thing for Miss Shana and he was ready to put everything behind to get her. Could he convince Shana that he is not the same playa playa that he used to be and was ready to man up and make her his one and only?

I recommend My Own Terms to the potential buyer who loves action from the first page to the last- I can't wait to read what T. Nicole is working on next, she has become one of my favorite authors. The storyline is hot and is happening- it's fresh. You will not be disappointed.
