A must-read is Aivah's Story.
At 14 months of age, my granddaughter Aivah was diagnosed with Celiac disease and a casein allergy. This began my journey to finding healthy, nutritious gluten-free and dairy-free foods to feed a small child. This journey has been a long road of trial and error, littered with some really bad food! Thankfully, these trials produced many successful recipes.
This cookbook gives you the basics of preparing gluten-free and dairy-free meals. It describes gluten-free ingredients, Celiac disease, other ingredient names for gluten and dairy and cross-contamination. This is the perfect book for those new to the gluten-free, dairy-free lifestyle. Included are 120 easy recipes for everyday foods such as Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup with GF noodles, Homemade Marshmallows and many gluten-free, dairy-free breads.
Excerpt
Since Aivah was so little, she couldn't tell us what, where or why she hurt. Her symptoms mirrored the symptoms of many other childhood illnesses and diseases. There were months of irritability, hours of screaming, foul-smelling diarrhea, hours of screaming, red blotchy hives that covered her entire body, hours of screaming, abdominal cramps, headaches (yes, babies can get headaches. She used to hit both sides of her head with her fists, shake her head and scream for hours), high fevers, terrible diaper rash that would sometimes bleed - oh, did I mention hours of screaming???
After buckets and buckets of tears (Aivah's, her mom's AND myself), numerous trips to the doctor, trips to the emergency room, blood tests, allergy tests, doces of penicillin (we discovered she also has an allergy to penicillin) with no diagnosis, we decided to try a few of our own "food allergy tests". We both knew that many food allergies can be misdiagnosed.
.......
As soon a swe removed the bread from her diet, we saw an improvement. She was happier, played more and wasn't as listless as she had been. And she screamed less - a LOT less (thank you!). She still had times when she had a lot of abdominal cramping, liquid diarrhea and headaches.
Professional Reviews
Autism & Gluten-free diet
My son was diagnosed with Autism in 2004 and we have been following a Gluten and Casein free diet since 2008 with success. It was a pleasure reviewing the Don't Feed Me book as Joyce has taken the time to research the information, understand the trials of a GFCF diet and pass along her personal insight. Due to necessity, she is devoted to the book and the other Don't Feed Me products. Thank you, Joyce.

Informative and Detailed Book
By far the most informative and detailed description of gluten-free, dairy-free cooking. The recipes are simple and delicious, even if you're not gluten or dairy intolerant. However, if you are, after reading this book you will come away completely understanding these intollerances and allergies and how to live a healthy, happy life.
