Continuing the story, as a desperate Spanish remount station eventually becomes the small settlement of Corrales, the story follows the fate and fortunes of the Apodaca family through the bloody Pueblo Revolt, and then over seven generations in the Corrales Valley.
It also introduces French immigrants, Louis and Julian Bonneau, who are forced to flee France to escape punishment for an unspeakable crime.
A few years later, young Gaetano Perna must leave his small, Sicilian village under the threat of Mafia vendetta. He too, finds his way to Corrales.
