If you like true crime - this is the book for you!
If you enjoy true crime, this is the book for you. The book centers around a family, devistated by the loss of their beautiful young family member who was brutally murdered. It is told with as much compassion as possible given the nature of the crime. The newspaper articles, police reports and autopsy reports were used to show the brutality of the young lady's death.completed the story of how this young lady died. The author included conversations and statements that friends and family shared, which enhanced the knowledge of what a tragedy this truly was. There were a few troublesome things in the book that made me wonder if there was maybe more culprits to the tragic event than just the man who went to prison. Hmmm....
Is it the work of just one deranged person or did someone else get away with murder...
I started reading this book with one mindset and found my opinions evolving the deeper I got into the story. The crime itself was brutal and the fact that these folks were all just kids gives the reader much to ponder. The author knew the victim as well as the accused. He details the story in a way that allows readers "to conduct their own investigation" or at least come to their own conclusion about the convicted. Along the way, you will fall in love with Colette Molyneaux and be amazed by the strength of her mother, who is a pretty amazing woman. This work would not have been possible without her cooperation and bravery - at least not in the way it exists today. It is evident a vast amount of research and detail went into this work.
The author takes you through the investigate process, the forensic evidence and draws out specific areas of deficiency with certain aspects of the proceedings that remain mysterious. Along the way, he gives insight and his personal interactions with many of the people involved. Most chilling of all, are the letters exchanged with the convicted man who was just 15 at the time of the crimes. This isn't just a "who done it," its also a touching tribute to the victim and her family. The story brings many different facets of this one true crime story to life.
Must Read.
This is a very well written book about the "facts" of the crime that took place. The book grabs your attention right from the beginning and it's hard to put down until you reach the very end. You will fall in love with the youth and innocence of the victim, and will be emotionally drained when you read about what was done to this precious child. It's unimaginable what happened that October evening back in 1981.
This is a must read book. IT REMINDS US TO HUG OUR CHILDREN DAILY AND ALWAYS TELL THEM HOW MUCH WE LOVE THEM!!!!
