Jesus’ second lesson:
“Blessed are the meek
for they will inherit the Earth”
When we think about the word “meek,” we tend to think about someone who is weak or wimpy.
When Jesus used the word “meek,” He meant for us to be humble, obedient, and maybe a little powerless.
When we are humble, we recognize that we can’t be a “know it all.” We need God and other people in order to grow and learn. When we are humble and obedient it is easier to love others, and especially to love God!
And by the way, we are generally more lovable too!
Think about it. Jesus is God, the Almighty!
But when He was on Earth, He chose to be very meek, and gentle. He always obeyed His Father. Even when He knew He would die on the Cross. He accepted His Father’s will, even though it would be very painful.
Jesus is our model. He taught us to follow in His footsteps—to listen and to learn from those who love us and guide us in life.
