A young Asian boy named Chang gets distracted and leaves the gate open to the pen of his water buffalo named Totem. When Chang returns and finds Totem missing, he must tell his parents the truth and goes to search for Totem. Chang learns the importance of being reliable and responsible in the care of his water buffalo. He makes his parents proud as he takes responsibility for his actions.
