Excerpt
It was the first day of the work week and I was at Shirley’s Cafe getting sausage, eggs, toast, and coffee for breakfast before work. Don was there reading his morning newspaper as usual, he said, “Hey Jack, that was a nice job getting that senator’s wife for killing him. Did you see this missing person case now going beyond the third day? I guess a university professor of unified physics named Dr. Tim Drew has not been home or at the university in a few days. He probably ran off with one of his cute female students!” “I don’t know Don, but now would be the time missing persons may start looking to find him.” I said as I ate my breakfast. From behind the counter Patty said sarcastically, “He probably isn’t missing. He is just hiding from something.” “Only time will tell. You all have a good day.” I said to them as I was leaving for work with my coffee in hand.
When I got to the station Jim was already there at his desk. He said, “Hey Jack, did you hear about that missing professor?” “Yep, why do you ask?” I said. “Because we are on the case now so we need to get ready to track him down. The last place Dr. Tim Drew was seen was at Chingo University where he is a professor.” Jim said. “This is going to be fun interviewing college students and faculty.” I said sarcastically as I sat down at my desk. “We need to go out to the university and then to the professor’s house to interview his family. What do you think happened to him? I have already heard a couple of ideas about where he is today.” I said with a smile. Jack looked across our desks and said, “I’ll bet he took an unscheduled vacation by choice of by force. Let’s go find out!”
Jim and I used our planetary vehicle to get to the university. We went to the main office of unified physics to get a list of students in his classes and faculty there. They were nice enough to let us use a private room in order to interview the people we needed to while we were there. We began by interviewing the office secretary Ms. Harp. She started by saying, “I hope Dr. Drew is okay he is a great guy. He has classes on the first, third, and fifth days of the work week. He teaches unified physics classes in microbiology, electromagnetics, and deep space travel. As far as I know all of his students enjoyed his classes. They all seem optimistic and Dr. Drew was always open to make appointments with students to talk about any problems they were having with his classes or otherwise.” Then I asked, “Did Dr. Drew have any problems that you know of with any of the other professors?” “No he was always easy to talk to and very respectful of other professors too.” Ms. Harp replied. “Okay, thank you for your help, will you please show in Dr. Dent.” I said.
