Mariah felt a clenching sensation in her abdomen as she watched the man, who had driven the Army out of Chicago, take the podium. She found herself suddenly enthusiastic about what was to come. If Sentinel Blue worked on it, she wanted to as well. She had the desire to see what he had been working on for so many years. It had to be important if they were to take a man like him out of the operation for so long. Some people had surmised that Dorn had died, as the stories of new feats accomplished by him had ceased.
“Thanks again for joining us. Stephan McKinley and I hand-picked you based on some strict criteria. We took strong measures to make sure you were ready before you arrived.”
The memory of the burning pink shot rose in Mariah's mind.
“The reason we were so stringent on the requirements is that we can't afford to allow people without the best attributes to take part. You see amongst you people of many races, shapes and sizes, which is also of great importance. We need a fairly even cross section of folks from all over the States to test this new technology.” his gaze slid across the crowd from left to right, ending with Mariah's face. “I don't need to tell you how serious this is, so if you can't keep a secret, even if your life and the lives of everyone you love are at stake, speak up now.” there was some slight movement, the turning of heads to look at friends, but no objections. “So instead of boring you to death, I am going to go ahead and show you what we're here for. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to present The Bulletproof Series.” Dorn turned behind himself and lifted a hand, giving Leah the signal to draw the green curtain.
