How many absolutely stunning edge-of-your-seat movies were made in 2015? I try to see only the best movies made each year. Hands down, The Revenant, was a movie that I and many others considered edge-of-your-seat quality. It has probably grossed over $200 million dollars and climbing. That movie is one I will remember for a very long time.
You might be wondering why I might compare The Revevant to Duke Zimmer's The Romanovsky Stain (After Action Report). Last year, I had the absolute pleasure of editing this book for Duke. Without a doubt in my mind, The Romanovsky Stain is by far the most action-packed fastest paced book I have ever edited. To date, I have edited over 50 books. Duke's book was so enjoyable to edit that I had to take it with me while camping. Once I started editing, I forgot to eat and eating is something I look forward to daily.
Duke is a screenwriter. Take a moment if you will to read the book's back cover blurb. I think you'll agree with me that in less than 90 words, Duke has managed to paint a very vivid picture of a man, Jacob Steiner aka Jake aka Slammer to friends and a few enemies, sitting on a cement floor, cuffed to a pipe in a dark smelly room. I woke up with a headache a bottle of aspirin couldn't cure. A musty, oily odor hung in the air. Stale and stifling like a damp basement. The room was dark. I tried pulling myself up. No good. My hands were cuffed to heavy pipe running along the floor and my ankles were taped together. I half pushed and half pulled myself along the pipe to the wall. It was damp and metallic. Definitely not a police station. Unless the cells were in a medieval dungeon.
