There were once five new little kittens who lived in a warm dark corner by
the fire. These little kittens had never been outside because they were
too little.
They didn't know about the sky or grass or the trees. They didn't know
about summer or fall or winter or spring, until . . . one day they were old
enough to finally go outside into the big world and play in the sunshine
and fresh air.
At first the five little kittens did not know if they should go down the stairs
as they were still small and the stairs were so very steep. One day,
however, the stairs did not seem as steep because the five little kittens
were not so small anymore.
"They have got small," said one of the little kittens. " No we have grown,"
said the other little kitten.
