Synopsis
My story takes a large American family in the Mid-West and thrusts them into an adventure which takes them to Ireland, Wales and England. In this adventure the head of the family named Arthur, called the Thorn, his wife Donna
and their friends Anita, Marilyn and Nancy called “The Roses” serve as the characters who unite and involve all other characters in the development of the plot.
The “Thorn and Roses” have had a brush with the magical realm of the Wee Folk the previous year as they saved the Leprechaun King and his realm. Now that same monarch, Finbar X, seeks them once again to help with a profound challenge to not only his realm but that of the human world as well. The problem which complicates their helping is that Arthur and his family are involved in the making of a movie based on his book which told of the previous year’s adventure. Thus Arthur must keep his family from finding out about the magical realm so that they may be protected from a villainous group who seeks to destroy the most sublime Message of western civilization. It also happens that these same people are followers of the ancient sorceress Morgan le Fay of Arthurian Legend. Thus an ancient and revered legend is woven into the plot. The legend lives once again so that the sacred Message bestowed on humanity may be preserved and the symbol of that Message saved from obliteration. Thus this ordinary family eventually unites with the King of the Wee Folk and the Legendary Knights of the Round Table to combat the dark forces bent on destroying the Message of Faith, Hope and Love in the human world and the enchanted realm as well.
From the ruins of Glendalough and the Rock of Cashel to the mystical Blarney Castle and its fairy forest in Ireland, to the ancient places of worship as seen in St. David’s Cathedral and Tintern Abbey in Wales and from the majestic Cliffs of Moher to the magnificent Tower of London, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon in England, the reader will be absorbed into a magical realm and yet a very real world at the same time. And thus when they ultimately enter the ancient realm where sacredness is preserved they will witness, through scenes painted in illuminating narrative, how the power of the Message is eternal and indestructible for all people in all times.
