National Development
Good governance enhances national development. Good governance translates a developing nation to a developed nation.
One of the cardinal signals to see whether a leader rules well or not is the work of transformation that he brings into the nation, city, system, etc. Underdevelopment, problems, and corruptions of any nation are caused largely by the government, not by the masses. Good governance has a great power to transform...

High Marginal Increase in Profit
Good leadership makes a wide difference in profit making of any organisation. One of the elements of good leadership is the ability to guide and inspire others. A good leader inspires other staff to work with all their strengths. He inspires others to give their bests for the service. He set targets for them to meet. He motivates them and rewards achievement. He fights abnormalities among staff.
Through all these, the organisation begins to make profit exceedingly.
In those days, one of the branches where I worked once made losses for some months. After few months, the management of the bank from the head office asked the branch manager to resign. He was then replaced with another manager.
The new manager drove every staff in the office; he woke up the staff members that were sleeping from their sleeps; he gave targets to all to meet. Within a month of his leadership, the branch made profit exceedingly. The problem and success of an organisation is more of leadership than of members or staff. A leader is meant to drive the members or staff while they follow him at his...

THE 50 KILOMETRES ROAD TO GOOD GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP
Having seen the great values of good governance and leadership, we therefore need to keep them as our names attachment. Do you want to be a good leader – in government, business, or religion? Kindly take this several kilometres road that leads to good governance and leadership. Few of them are examples of God’s Leadership Skills (GLS) since God is the Father of Leadership. Those ones are marked by GLS.
KM1 Do First Thing First (GLS. Taken from ELB)
At the Creation, God was about to shape and beautify the earth which “was without form, and void.” The question is, “If you were God, what would you create first or do first?” Before this time, “the Spirit of God” had “moved upon the face of the waters.” God observed that “darkness was upon the face of the deep.” This shows clearly that light was needed before any other things on earth. Without light to illuminate the area, no work can be done in thick darkness. This is why “God said, Let there be light.” God instituted the principle of first thing first for leadership.
What a lesson is this from God! An adage says that when woods falls on one another, the wood at the top must be removed first before the ones below can be carried. This is the principle of first thing first.
As God did it, in anything you do in your leadership and governance, it is doing the first thing first that will enable you to achieve the expected goals. Set your priority right.
Some developmental works or innovations need to be carried out before others can be possible; identify such and do them first as God did. The principle of first work first will dramatically transform your governance or leadership positively if practised.
KM2 Never Use One Goal to Destroy Another Goal (GLS. Taken from ELB)
This is another leadership style from God. Formerly the entire world was full of total darkness. God had a goal of creating light. Did God use the goal of creating light to destroy the goal of existence of darkness from the world? No! God carried out...

KM14 The Leader Must be the Driver
The leader must be the driver of the organisational vehicle for the organisation to run smoothly and quickly. You must take the lead. You are to give the directions for others to take. You therefore need to be higher than the people you lead in reasoning quickly. If you choose to be a puppet instead of being a driver, your leadership or governance would soon become a mess.
KM15 Have a Sound Board
You need a board for planning and decision-making. For this reason, you must make sure that the board has sound strength for the purpose. This calls for appointing the right exceptional people – intelligent, discreet, sound in judgement, wise, and so on.
The success of a good leader depends on how sound and supportive his board is. You therefore need to choose your directors based on the competences needed for...

KM28 Develop & Invest in Talents
Recognize the talents of your staff and invest into these.
Spend to develop the talents of your staff
Send them for more training.
Bring in consultants to facilitate them further.
Identify the employees with high talents that serve as the pillars of your innovation, production, delivery, marketing, business, etc. If you do not hold them tightly, they can easily migrate away from you.
Pay them well.
Go further and engage them as part of the decision-making team.
Do everything to make them know that they are highly valued.
National leaders, do all you can to develop the talents of the people in your nations. Invest into their talents. Every country has people of great talents that can transform the country to be one of the best countries in the world. It is a pity that many of these talented people finally die with their talents since there was no person or government that invested into their talents or help to sponsor their great potential projects.
Some people that are equally or more talented than those talented people in America, Japan, Germany, China etc, exist in all other countries, especially the developing countries, of the world. The problem is that the governments of those nations are blind to see the wealth of talents in their nations and to invest into them.
KM29 Walk Around & Be Involved
David Packard, a co-founder of Hewlett-Packard (HP) Company with William Hewlett, pioneered a management style called “Management by walking around (MBWA)” in his leadership in HP. His method of leadership was to walk about and see what were happening outside his desk. He walked about to meetings, cafeterias, and the places where the real work was done such as shop floors and sales centres. With this method, he knew what was go on, when the assistance of the management was needed, the need of the employees, etc. Concerning HP, a reports says, “For years it topped lists of America's best-managed companies.” Today...

KM36 Have Strong Personal Characteristics
For you to succeed well as a leader as you were told in some other earlier names attachments, you must be a person with high virtues such as honesty, integrity, generosity, love, humility, courtesy, godliness, righteousness, diligence, wisdom, patriotism, loyalty, faith, perseverance and so on.
KM37 Be Ready to Take Profitable Risks
Your returns depend on your risks. You must not settle down for the status quo of average. You must rise to take great risks, using all wisdom and discretion.
If you are afraid to take risks, your governance or leadership will be limited in success. You must be ready to say like Esther, “If I perish, I perish,” and...

KM43 Adapt to People of Different Attitudes
In leadership, you need adaptation in dealing with people, especially your staff. Here are some of the different attitudes you will see in your staff:
Getting angry easily
Not heeding correction
Talking too much
Very gentle
Cold in nature
Extremely quiet and introversive
Quarrelsome
Jovial
Serious face without smiling or laughing
Getting scared easily
And so on
You need to know your customers. Your staff members are your internal customers. Know them one by one and know how to handle them. Everybody can never behave or react the same way. Study people and go along well with people.
Endeavour to transform those with bad behaviours such as the quarrelling, anger, etc. Correct them with love.
KM44 Delegate Some of Your Responsibilities to Right People
You cannot carry the whole organisation work all alone. Delegate some of the responsibilities to other able people in the office. A need may arise for you to create new offices for these as the organisation grows. Normally, organisational chart...
