Book IV in the series. Book V will be arriving by November 1, 2016.
As Limbo falls, a new prisoner emerges from the Forbidden area cave of the Seventh Circle. The demons are closing in on the dwarf Clavius and all allies of the fugitive prisoner. Chiron is pressed to control the unrest by his centaur kind against the newly arrived humans to his circle, and the miners join the ranks of the fugitives while attempting to assist Clavius and the newcomer, John Moore, who has been caught up in the tumult against his wishes. A new guest, and a more ancient fugitive of Hell arrives at the river Phlegethon, throwing off the fragile balance of Chiron's circle once and for all. In the midst of the chaos, a connection between John Moore and the new prisoner is revealed, and new allies are found in the journey to escape Hell. Can they make it or will the Fallen discover their attempt at freedom?
Excerpt
Virgilius closed his eyes, trembling as he cursed his and Alighieri’s fates, trying to prepare for eternal damnation. He had left the safety of Limbo to chance an escape from Hell, a wager that rare few others had even considered. He lost, and now his friend Alighieri would suffer with him, his friend who had dared believe in his story and gamble upon an escape. Virgilius opened his eyes as one of the Fallen started toward the death-shrouded Alighieri. The Fallen was almost upon him when a sudden, deafening explosion threw Virgilius and the Fallen to the icy ground. The Fallen got to their feet quickly, as did Virgilius, and stood in stunned surprise.
One of them, the leader, shrieked loudly, enraged at the impudence of violence done to his person before he noticed the anomaly. Where Alighieri had stood was now only an opening that shrunk and disappeared in a matter of seconds. The Fallen screeched and raged, and set upon their remaining prisoner.
Alighieri was gone.
