In only five chapters, the reader will be guided in the preparation of his manuscript (a word-processor file) to easily convert it into an eBook. It now includes clear explanations for the creation of a Table of Contents and a Glossary.
The first chapter is an overall view of the task at hand, that is, how to prepare your manuscript (a word processor file) to ensure that it can be easily transformed into an eBook. The second chapter gives you suggestions related to the cover and illustrations. The third chapter does the same but in reference to the Table of Contents and also with respect to a Glossary and Lists, Bibliographies, etc. The fourth chapter gives you the TEN steps you need to take to publish your book as an eBook. The fifth chapter gives you, in addition to well-deserved congratulations, various tips to register your eBook and to upload it to be published and sold to places like Amazon Kindle. It also provides you with the website addresses of the ISBN organization and the Copyright Office of the United States so you can copyright your eBook if you live in the U.S. The appendix suggests ways to design your own covers, if so desired. At the end, you will find a brief glossary that was prepared following the instructions given in this eBook, plus a few sample images.

It is recommended that you paste your illustrations in the size you had in mind in the first place. For example, if your image (illustration, photo, etc.) is 2" x 2", paste it in that size at a resolution between 150 and 300dpi (dots per inch) preferably in full color. It is true that some eBook readers do not show color, but tablets and mobile devices do.
Note: If you need to know the resolution of an image, open Paint® and paste the image on it. Click on Image and then on Attributes; the window will show you, among other things, the resolution of the image in dots per inch (dpi), and also the width and height in one of three measurements: inches, centimeters or pixels. This should help you decide which image to use. By the way, Paint is located in the Accessories folder under All Programs in your PC. Access the folder by clicking on the Start key/button of your PC. In addition, the sites where you are going to upload your manuscript and cover, such as Amazon, Payloadz, AuthorsDen, etc., also have guidelines with respect to the proper size and resolution of your cover in case you have other doubts not covered here.
You only need one cover in full color. You will upload it separately to the retailer’s website (vg Amazon, etc.). If your cover is a TIFF file, go ahead and use it. Tip: Keep track of the cover by placing it on the desktop – this is the easiest way of finding it when the moment comes to upload it.
Finally, if you are not artistically inclined and would find it difficult making a cover, you should consider the services of a professional. Search for “Book cover design” on the web and you will find plenty of them. However, don’t forget your friends and relatives. You may have a niece or a nephew that can produce a beautiful cover at a much lower price. If, on the other hand, you want to tackle this project yourself, check the information in Appendix A. It is also a good idea to save the cover in different sizes, at least Large, Medium and Small, with Large being the one you upload to the sellers. The other ones can be used on advertisements, cards, etc.
