What if you had access to all the information in the world, past and present, true and unaltered facts? How would you use that information; personal gains, humanitarian efforts, political ambitions? And, what if the source of that information, the Voices, was suspect in its true purpose? How would you then use that information and at the same time protect yourself?
Norm Willstrum had this experience and recalls his story in how he and others dealt with the Voices. The Voices do exist. We do not see them, but we do hear them. We do not know where they come from, who they will effect, who will listen to them, but they are real. Are they the lost souls of our past, or souls that did not exit this existence upon the death of their vessel but exist as remnants of the past?
Are they the soul of the ancient caveman mauled to death by a saber tooth tiger; the victim of crucifixion at the hands of the Romans, or burned at the stake as a heretic by priests during the reformation, or souls wrenched from their bodies by the cruel practices of Mengele during World War II, or slaughtered mercilessly by Idi Amin in Uganda during the 1970’s?
Why do they make themselves evident to some and not others?
Do they reside in that 90% of our brain we do not use; the reptilian or non-human segment; a segment that tends to rely on kill or be killed for survival?
Yet when they interact with the living, their interactions tend to have an outcome of violence, eventually killing the very vessel in which they exist, if they exist there at all; the ultimate parasite.
Maybe that is what they are seeking, hoping for, that by destroying the vessel they will finally be free.
True accounts of encounters with the Voices are included in the novel.
Some people hear them, and some listen to them and some feel they must obey them. The results can be terrifying; murder in the most gruesome cases, families, friends, neighbors, or strangers, all sacrificed at the ever present pressure of the Voices.
If you hear them, do not listen.
If they command you, do not obey,
