Gwen looked up at Frank, studying his expression. “You really want to kill me, don’t you?”
He nodded. “Oh, you don’t know how much. While your friends are trying to get through my security system, I am hoping to shoot you straight through the cranium. You will definitely be put out of your misery.”
For the first time in her life, she was truly afraid of him. “Frank, please. You don’t know what you’re saying.”
“Oh, no. No begging and pleading this time.” He stepped closer to her. Then he looked at her skeptically. “What, is this pure fear in your eyes? Are you afraid of me, for real?”
She swallowed, her breathing uneven. “Frank, you know that I’ve never been scared of you.”
“Perhaps.” He raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
