Rick shook his head. She had to be crazy indeed to get involved with him. She simply did not act like the kind of woman he was accustomed to, and she really didn’t talk like a bimbo either. She spoke like the educated sort, certainly the kind he’d never dated in his life. Yet she was so interesting, so compelling a specimen of female persuasion and he couldn’t stop thinking about her or about the many times he’d touched her or saved her from impending danger, from ruthless fools who couldn’t know how to treat her. And for some reason, she seemed so innocent, but one look at her dress and a man had to dismiss that idea.
“I’m going to kiss you now and I’m giving you a chance to back out…” He hesitated for a moment and when she didn’t move, deftly lowered his lips to hers, gently increasing the pressure while dragging his hands through her hair.
