Poem: A Spectral Vision
Book: "The Spellbound Heart"
Beneath the ramblings of my mind;
I feel my strength begin to dissolve.
As my will to fight came to an end;
I felt her spellbinding gaze quickly overwhelm me.
Transparent through the morning mist;
I sensed her presence lurking nearby.
As her soft words of charm befell my mind;
I felt myself walking away into the shadows.
As I tried to turn my gaze;
I saw a glimpse of her controlling smile.
Through the many high violent winds, I went;
Feeling a void of confusion overwhelm my silent screams.
As her spectral vision began to laugh without control;
I felt myself start to burn within the ashes of the past.
As a winding dreadful spellbound journey came to an end;
A spectral vision silently returns to her slumber.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
