It is abour the author, his 6brothers, mother and father and all of theri neighbors. We had little money but had all that we needed and were wealthy jin the thing that were important.
The father was a methodist minister whno served several churches in southern Alabama and northwest Florida. Father grew up oin a faram. He lovede and respectr\ed everyone regardless of color, nationality;, religion or creed. Therefore he was loveed and respected by every one.
The seven children in small towns, worked at hjome, in the gtarden, tended. helped raise chickens, cows, gardens. and enjoyed roamingt the woods, creeks and rivers to hunt, fish and ;play. They had as much fun, food and created their own good times.
The author and his brother stayed in the woods, creeks, fields, farms most of the time We didm't hafe Indian Joe as Tom Saw3yer had but weh oura own dangers on the rivers, woods and snake infested waters. Somehowa we felt that we had to be careful but felt that oru guardian angle was watching over us.
