After Chief Keplar returns home after WWll, he finds his small town needs a
sheriff, so he takes it on. Due to his war experiences, he suffers from what
was called in those days shell shock. He was a hero who saved the life of
more than one fellow soldier.
Brooklyn Center is a small town on the edge of Minneapolis that has never
had any serious crime, but now a body is found on the edge of Twin Lakes.
For Chief Keplar this is a new challenge. He is used to seeing dead bodies,
but not tracking down a killer. He reaches out to a Minneapolis detective and
the two of them face a serious challenge that involves murder, gambling and
the mob.
