Fun Book!
This was a fun book. While it tackled a tough, emotional subject, the tone was light and fun.
16 year old Jenna's mom has decided that she is not going to be part of the problem any longer and is determined to help Jenna lose weight. A very quick and witty book that has you laughing and shaking your head over and over.
Her mom's unconventional methods upset Jenna, and she just couldn't understand why her weight is a problem all of a sudden. Jenna is determined to rebel, but her mother seems to be one step ahead of her everytime she tries to be sneaky.
A great read about love and friendship!
Relatable main character
I became emotionally invested in the main character, Jenna. I could relate to her 'I don't care what anyone thinks of me' attitude. Jenna portrayed self confidence, especially about her weight. She seemed to truly not care what she looked like or how others saw her. Her struggle with her mother seems to be one that most teenage kids can relate to no matter what their issue is. I loved Jenna's rebellious behavior, quick wit towards her mother and how she finally came to terms with her weight. The only issue that I had with this book was Jenna joined a knock-off version of Curves called 'Shapely'. The book portrayed this women's only gym as having personal trainers. Curves is nothing but circuit training, no personal trainers. Other than that, this book was a great read!
