Chapter 1
My essence moved through the doorway. The shadows were flowing, slowly becoming whole once more, the feel of flesh such a wonderful feel. My blades tightly sheathed along my waist as I walked. It took a minute for my eyes to adjust to the sights. One could not imagine how sensitive your eyes are after hundreds of years not working.
Once they did I could not believe what stood around me. The buildings were massive, stretching to kiss the sky.
Yes, this new world would do well to be my realm. My first step was to find that little treacherous sot and rip him apart, then to see if others had found their way; the last thing to get rid of them or make them mine.
My eyes scanned the blood sacks that wandered around. The clothing, the way they spoke; it was shame, what had become of the world during our absence. Well I could fix that. Minions, that is what I required. I need ones that were blindly loyal and easily expendable. Pulling my hood over my near white blonde hair, I walked the street.
Grabbing the first lone human I saw, I pressed him against the wall. How nice it felt to have his soft skin give way and the bones strain inches away from breaking. "The year. What year is it?"
His voice strained with the pain, and chocked back the tears that no doubt wanted to fall from his weak human eyes. "2011…please…let…"
My question answered, I had no more use for him; sinking my fangs in to his soft flesh I drank my fill. I grabbed his head and wrenched it to face the opposite way before he dropped to the ground. Now time to find a few humans worthy of my kiss.
