When her mother Christine, died, Sadie Mae Stevens was only five. Full of uncanny wisdom and other supernatural abilities, she didn’t know that other children were not like her. At the age of fourteen, Sadie’s father, fed up with the strange occurrences happening in her bedroom, decides to get rid of her. Under the advice of his new mysterious fiancée, he sends Sadie to an island where a woman supposedly skilled in breaking the curse off of children like Sadie was awarded custody of her.

Crushed and bruised inside, Sadie is untrusting of a woman she meets on the boat going to Daufuskie Island, and she had no desire to make friends with the three peculiar teens she would be living with. Her only place of safety and guidance was in the realm where her mountain lives. Still, her mountain could not give her peace when she discovers truths behind the place her father had sent her.

In the end, Sadie finds allies on the island and discovers what actually happened to her mother. Enraged, Sadie Mae Stevens turns on a deadly light of fire inside her as she set out to avenge her mother’s death. The legacy her mother left her ramps up …
