Sister and brother Janie and Daniel Valentine get more than they expected when Daniel's job in the mob move them across country.
All Janie and Daniel wanted was a better life and growing up in small town Louisiana did not give them that opportunity. So the sister and brother headed to Los Angeles, California to make the most of their lives. However, their hopes begin to diminish when Daniel's work in organized crime lead them down dangerous and deadly roads. After Daniel's mysterious disappearance and death, Janie plunges headlong into grief and love for the assistant to the "boss". The couple seems to have everything going for them except for Rico's job that takes him away for days on end sometimes. Janie's suspicions and worries over Rico's possible infidelity reveals information she never imagined would come to light. Her undying love for this man leads to secrets, lies, and murder. Soon Janie finds herself on the wrong side of the gun hanging off a cliff deep in the woods of North Carolina.

Janie had a look in her eyes of complete hopelessness and defeat. Rico stared deep into her broken bruised eyes and asked one thing:
“Do you trust me?” Janie blinked and took a deep breath. She just wanted this all to end.
“Do.. you.. trust me?” He asked again. Janie knew it was now or never. As she began to extend her hand toward him, she said barely above a whisper, “Yes” then shut her eyes.
Within a matter of a millisecond Janie felt herself being pulled out of Scott’s death grip, then heard a deafening bang that rang throughout the house. For a brief moment she didn’t know what just happened. Everything happened so quickly, yet it felt like slow motion. Rico quickly tossed his gun over to Phil, grabbed Janie up into his arms and rushed her out of the house.

Looking through blind eyes is a quick read. However, it is a book you just can't put down. I throughly enjoyed the crime, passion , and intrigue that was brought to life through the characters. I can't wait for the next book to see what Janie's future holds.....definite must read!

This was read over the weekend.... I really enjoyed it. There were parts I was disappointed in. Not due to the writing but the story line. I teared up several times. An unexpected ending!! Any news on book 2?
